Biographical NoteReturn to Top

As a volunteer civil rights activist in Bellevue, Wash., Lola S. Day and husband Kenneth W. Day worked for open housing, particularly in the area east of Lake Washington. They were involved in numerous civil rights and anti-war efforts and taught courses in black history and race relations in schools and organizations. In 1967 Day received a Community Brotherhood award from the National Conference of Christians and Jews, Washington Region. She was president of the Eastside Conference on Religion and Race, and Kenneth Day was Executive Secretary of the Eastside Human Relations Council.
