Biographical NoteReturn to Top

John Fluke was born in 1911. He was president of Fluke Manufacturing Co.. In 1969 he was appointed by Secretary of Defense Melvin R. Laird to serve on a 15 member blue-ribbon panel which was to conduct a year-long study of the defense establishment. The study was to include the organization of the Defense Department, defense research and development, defense procurement and practices, and other matters submitted by the Secretary of Defense. In 1983, Fluke championed the cause of the Washington Technology Center which was created by the Washington State Legislature. He died in 1984 before the completion of the building on the University of Washington campus.
