Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Cliff Morris was born June 4, 1918. He joined the 46th General Hospital in 1942 after receiving medic training at the University of Oregon Medical School. He was transferred to Fort Riley, Kansas, for basic training where he worked in medical records, admissions and dispositions. Morris also served at the University of Nebraska in the Army Specialized Training Program and in the 97th Battalion as chief medical corpsman in Europe. He was discharged in 1945 and returned to Portland to work in the family-owned business.

These records document the military careers of Oregon physicians serving in World War II through correspondence, clippings, and records of rank and decorations. They also document various aspects of the war effort and its impact on the physicians who served, including racial issues, POW experiences, and various service units. Specific units mentioned include the U.S.S. Comfort, 41st Division, 46th General Hospital, 91st Evacuation Hospital, 101st Airborne Division, and 104th Infantry Division.
