Crawford (1899-1980) was a founding member and assistant director of the UGMS and a faculty member at both the University of Utah and Brigham Young University. In addition, he was the commissioner of the Utah State Department of Publicity and Industrial Development.

Crawford papers (1899-1980s) contain personal and professional correspondence, manuscripts and articles pertaining to mineral resources in Utah, bound volumes on geology and flood problems, Western Gilsonite and Elaterite Co. financial records, Utah Geological and Mineralogical Survey (UGMS) administrative records, and the missionary journals of Crawford's father. Many of the manuscripts and articles were authored by Arthur Crawford.
