Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Ray Clift was born in Bellingham, Washington on August 31, 1912. He attended the Western College of Education, taking science and engineering courses. After serving an apprenticeship in photography from 1930 to 1934, Clift became a studio photographer and motion picture cameraman. Clift moved to Seattle in the late 1940s to work as an engineer and tool designer at Boeing Aircraft Company. He also became a member of the Mountaineers at this time, and he took several films of their outdoor excursions. Clift moved to Arizona with his wife Annette after he retired from Boeing in 1977, and passed away in Prescott, Arizona on October 28, 2003.
