- The Melvin Henry Fletcher scrapbook (1918-1963) is a color copy of Fletcher's lifetime scrapbook, which consists of certificates, awards, news clippings, and a column written by Mel while living in San Diego. Fletcher was born in Park City, Utah in 1918. He served twice in the U.S. Navy and wrote a column in Aircraft Mechanic about ice skating events. He competed in ski jumping and was well-known in the skiing community.

Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Fletcher was born on 18 June 1918. A native of Park City, Fletcher attended public schools and participated in high school athletics. He served twice in the Navy. Fletcher wrote a column in the Aircraft Mechanic for a couple years about ice skating events. He was well-known and respected in the skiing community. He worked as an instructor and competed in events, including ski jumping. Fletcher also worked part of his life at Geneva Steel.
