Historical NoteReturn to Top

Doernbecher Memorial Children's Hospitial is an academic teaching hospital affiliated with Oregon Health & Science University. Established in 1926 through a $200,000 donation by Ada Doernbecher Morse, an heir to the Frank Silas Doernbecher fortune, it was the first full-service children's hospital in the Pacific Northwest. Since that time, the hospital has gone on to become one of the top ranked pediatric hospitals in the country. In 1998 a new, state-of-the-art facility was constructed to replace the aging and cramped original building.
