Historical NoteReturn to Top
Ramesh Gangolli is a musician, mathematician, and teacher from Bangalore (India). He studied at the University of Bombay and Cambridge University and received his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He taught mathematics at MIT for one year after graduation before moving to Seattle to become a faculty member at the University of Washington. He has taught classes on both mathematics and music and is currently Professor Emeritus of Mathematics and Adjunct Professor of Music for the university. He has a strong interest in the classical music of North India. During his youth, he studied under several well-known vocalists in India and has performed in recitals around the world.
