Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Anna Berge received her PhD in Linguistics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1997. She has specialized in West Greenlandic and Unangam Tunuu (Aleut) and does theoretical and descriptive work in syntax and discourse.

The Unangam Tunuu or Unangan language is spoken by the Unangan or Aleut peoples. It has two main dialects: Eastern Aleut (also known as Unalaskan) and Western Aleut (also known as Atkan, Attuan, or Qaxun).
