The Mormon businessman in Salt Lake City diaries were written by an un-named young man who was a banker/businessman in Salt Lake City. He tells of often going uptown to collect money, $200 to $800 each day, and working with his father in the office, then playing chess, skating, going to theatre, hunting and sailing on the lake. He sleeps on a steamboat there (possibly the President Garfield at Garfield Beach)...and he tells of a baseball game in Salt Lake City in 1877, between the Reds and the Deserets (Deserets won 6-3, in this early mention of baseball).
