Historical NoteReturn to Top

The Office of the Vice Provost is primarily responsible for the interpretation and implementation of University policies and procedures related to the appointment, retention, and salary of faculty, librarians, and other members of the academic personnel community. The Vice Provost provides counsel and direction to Deans, Directors, and Chairs on faculty personnel and salary matters. The office provides leadership on the development of academic personnel policies through its participation on the Faculty Council on Faculty Affairs and the Faculty Council on Retirement, Insurance, and Benefits and Faculty Council on Tri-Campus Policy of the Faculty Senate. Communication on faculty personnel and salary matters takes place through the Senate Committee on Planning and Budgeting.

In liaison with the Ombudsman and the Secretary of the Faculty, the Vice Provost also provides information to faculty and informal assistance in the resolution of grievances. The Vice Provost also serves as the University's accreditation liaison office to the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, Commission on Colleges and Universities. In addition, records of specialized accreditation are maintained in the office of the Vice Provost. The Office of the Vice Provost also houses the Retirement Center, UW's Reserve Officer Training Corps programs, and the Office of Scholarly Integrity.
