The Hebrew Ladies' Free Loan Society was incorporated in 1913 and made small loans that allowed borrowers to purchase clothing and food for holidays like Passover and Rosh Hashanah or other important occasions. There was also a separate men's association, the Hebrew Education and Free Loan Association, which also began its work in 1913.
