Charles Keyes is emeritus professor of anthropology and international studies at the University of Washington. He received his Ph.D from Cornell University in 1967. From 1962 to 2011 he conducted field research in Thailand on economy, development and culture; ethnic group relations, religion and modernity; and politics of the past.
