Ranck, born in 1869, was a sergeant in Spanish-American War serving in the Philippines. He represented Clark County (Republican) in the 1902 and 1906 legislatures, was president of the Vancouver Historical Society, editor of the Vancouver Chronicle, and Treasurer of Clark County in 1921.
