On April 18, 2006 I got the worse news a 15-year-old can get. I got the news that my grandpa (Pops) passed away. Since that day I had the idea of a tattoo in memory of him. He was one of the best men I have ever known in my life; I looked up to him in a way no one understands. My pops was like a father figure to me. He helped my dad by watching us while he was at work. He helped me with my homework, got me and my sisters to school and picked us up. He was teaching me how to drive before he passed away. He was the one I turned to for advice on anything I had a problem with or when I just needed someone to vent to. But with all that, I had two ideas of tattoos I wanted in his honor: a 50s Navy Frogman or the CA CHP seal. I had 3 years to think about which one I really wanted, so with that time I thought of color or black and white, placement, size, where I'm going to go to have it done and which one meant more to me. When I was little, staying the night with my grandparents, I remembered him always giving me a Navy shirt to wear, and him telling stories of his deployment. That helped me to make my mind up on what to get: the frogman seal.
