Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Allan Burns is an anthropologist and teacher who specializes in research with Indigenous communities in North and Central America as well as in the Pacific Islands. He has provided expert testimony in US federal courts on human rights cases and served on various committees including the Pan American Health Organization committee on Indigenous people and infectious diseases. He has won four teacher of the year awards from the University of Florida as well as the Sol Tax Career Award for his work as president of the Society for Applied Anthropology. He is currently an adjunct professor of anthropology at Duke Kunshan University where he teaches medical anthropology.

EC (Earliest Copy) tapes are identified as 72-9.2 - 72-9.4 EC; what was identified as 72-9.1 EC does not contain Burns tapes I-II as labelled but rather a lecture by Carlos Castaneda, so this tape has been re-numbered to NK1 United States/91-11.1 OT; copies of Burns tapes I-II are apparently not in the Archives.
