Historical NoteReturn to Top

Edith Price Walford was born on March 6, 1912. As a child, Walford was given artistic projects to do at home and appeared to have a natural talent for art. When cards came in the mail from her uncle, C.S. Price, she took great interest in them and struck up a correspondence with him. Price was an established artist who had been exhibiting his work for some time. When Walford expressed interest in how Price made one of his linoleum block Christmas cards she was instructed by her uncle, through the mail, on how to make her own.

When she entered high school Walford took an art class every term. One of her creations was used in her 1931 high school yearbook. After high school she went to school to learn business subjects. She took a civil service exam and was hired to work for Bonneville Power Administration. She remained with the BPA for the rest of her career. Walford died February 5, 1973 at the age of 60.
