Biographical NoteReturn to Top

George E. Foreman was born on February 9, 1904. He was known as "Jeff" for his initials G.E.F. His father, Edward Foreman, was one of the first rangers in the country under the Government Land Office and was stationed at the Cinnamon Ranger Station on the Gallatin National Forest in Montana. George Foreman was a lookout at Lone Mountain in Montana as early as 1915. He began more official work for the United States Forest Service in 1920 as a lookout and continued serving as a seasonal employee until he was hired full-time in the early 1940s. His work diaries extend until 1965. During his career with the Forest Service in Montana he worked in the old Squaw Creek District, as well as the Cinnamon District and in the Gallatin Range in southwestern Montana.

Foreman and his wife, Juanita, had four children, Robert, Betty, June and Marie. George Foreman died November 12, 1966.
