William Splichal's parents came to America from Bohemia, and came to the west in the 1880s. The family homesteaded in the Odessa area, then moved to Spokane, and finally settled in Cheney.

This collection contains an interview with William Splichal. In the interview, Splichal describes experiences living in Washington State in the late 1800s and early 1900s, specifically in Cheney, Spokane, and Odessa. Splichal also recalls a lynching in eastern Washington during this period, but cannot provide a firm date.
