Historical NoteReturn to Top

Issaquah Alps Trails Club is "dedicated to the protection of the lush mountains, valleys, rivers, and streams in the Issaquah Alps region and beyond." The club was founded by writer and mountaineer Harvey Manning in 1979. Three years earlier, Manning began referring to the foothills surrounding Issaquah as the "Issaquah Alps" and, along with others, began an effort to publicize information about trails and popular hiking routes in the region. In addition to organizing guided hikes and other events, the Club works to promote and protect Grand Ridge, Taylor Mountain, Rattlesnake Mountain, Little Si, Middle Fork, and other trails, parks, and open spaces.
