Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Dr. Murphy was on the faculty at the Harvard University School of Public Health and Director of the University of Texas School of Medicine's Division of Toxicology after receiving his doctorate at the University of Chicago in 1958. Murphy came to the University of Washington in 1983 and was chairman of the Department of Environmental Health until his death in 1990. His research interests included organophosphate insecticides and toxicology. He received the Merit Award, Distinguished Fellow, the toxicology Education Award, and the Achievement Award from the Society of Toxicology among his achievements.
