Archives West Finding Aid

This series includes correspondence relating to Northey’s civic and legislative activity. Letters of both a personalized and less personal nature are to be found on a wide variety of subjects. Some months, as well as the entire year of 1965, are absent from the inclusive materials. The series is organized chronologically.

This series contains bill drafts, clippings, correspondence pamphlets and other publications related to Northey’s legislative and campaign activity. The papers have been organized topically; divisions include air pollution, education, the Legislative Assembly, a Montana sales tax debate, the Platform Committee on Labor and Industry, predator protection, speeches and notes, and a miscellaneous category. The correspondence materials included in this series are distinguished from general correspondence by merit of their relevance to particular legislative issues. In addition, any correspondence that arrived in physical attachment to related legislative materials was maintained in place. Materials are organized topically.

This series contains materials relating to Northey’s civic undertakings, primarily in Missoula. Materials pertaining to his involvement with the Missoula Lions Club, the Montana Motor Transport Association, and the Montana Bowling Association and not least the Republican Party are included. Clippings, newsletters, and notes verify the continuing progress of his private moving business. Northey’s time served as school trustee is recorded with meeting minutes and miscellaneous publications. Materials have been arranged by topic.

Comprising this small series are materials not directly related to the areas covered by other series. The included photographs are of a variety of subjects, such as the legislative assembly and possibly family, but are mostly unlabeled and undated.
