Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Clinton Westman was raised in rural Alberta, Canada, and received his Ph.D. in Sociocultural Anthropology from the University of Alberta. He was a postdoctoral fellow in Anthropology at the University of Montreal before working as an Assistant Professor in Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Saskatchewan. Westman's research focused on environmental anthropology and the anthropology of religion.

CDs and sound cassettes of Cree Pentecostal church services, speech on oil sands by George Poitras, interviews, meetings, photographs, videos, Westman's doctoral thesis, and other documents; photocopies of handwritten field notes from research at Trout Lake, Peerless Lake, Cadotte Lake, and other locations in Alberta, Canada; typed notes from archival research at the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada; photocopy of final research report to the Jacobs Research Fund; transcripts of interviews with Cree speakers about the history of the area; transcripts of church services; and a CD and sound cassette of an oral history interview with Alberta Knox and a copy of a related article, “Homesteading in Northern Alberta During the Great Depression: A Life History Approach,” which was published in Prairie Forum volume 32, no. 1 (Spring 2007).
