Biographical NoteReturn to Top

William West Anderson was born in Walla Walla, Washington on September 19, 1928. He received a bachelor's in literature from Whitman College, and was drafted into the United States Army during World War II. During his service, he worked as an announcer for American Forces Network television. After the war, Anderson changed his name to Adam West, and began to pursue a career in acting. While West starred in many films during his career, he is most famous for playing Batman in the television series that aired from 1966 to 1969. West died on June 9, 2017.
