Content DescriptionReturn to Top

The images in this collection document Dr. S. Lyman Tyler's effort in research of the indigenous peoples of North and South America. The collection contains pictures of a wide variety of Indians such as the Ute, Southeast, Aztec, Plains, Southwest, Northeast, Mesopotamia, and slides of Catlin's paintings. The first part of the collection involves a photo excursion of Brazil and the latter parts of the collection are of earlier black and white images of several groups of South American Indians. A great part of this collection is a photographic record of an unidentified book written about the Kaiapo group of Indians in South America. Also included are some views of Salt Lake City around the turn of the century. Also included in the collection are slides of English Prime Minister's, and slides of England. Almost all of the images are black and white in excellent condition with the exception of the large collection of slides.
