Historical NoteReturn to Top
The Horner Museum was established at the Oregon Agricultural College in 1925 as the Museum of Oregon Country. In 1936, the museum's name was changed to the John B. Horner Museum to memorialize the professor who had co-founded the museum and contributed to the collections. In 1951, the museum was moved to Gill Coliseum and was forced to close its doors in 1995 due to financial limitations and other challenges. In 2008, the remaining Horner Museum Collections were transferred to the Benton County Historical Society in Philomath, Oregon.
