Historical NoteReturn to Top

Monday Club originated with an idea of J.P.D. Llwyd to provide a forum for intellectual stimulation and companionship for educated men in Seattle. It was founded on January 29, 1906 from the group of sixteen men whom he invited to his home for dinner. The plan was for each member, in rotation, to present an original paper for discussion after dinner. Today the Club makes an effort to elect to membership educated men who include academics, professionals in law, medicine, and religion, the arts, and the business community. The plan to present original papers in rotation continues.
