Biographical NoteReturn to Top
The Willner family emigrated from Poland to Costa Rica in 1936. Upon arrival in Costa Rica, they adopted the familial name of Willner which they had not been allowed to use in Poland since Jewish marriages were not recognized by the state and children had to use the maternal name. The name of the family in Poland was Halpern. The family immigrated to the U.S. in 1945.
