Historical NoteReturn to Top

Russell D. Fereday (Russ) and Muriel Fereday (Mia) were married in Ithaca, NY in 1947 before settling in Boise in 1949.

In addition to his career with the family plumbing and heating business, Horlan’s of Boise, Russ was active in Boise’s music and theatre communities for more than 40 years. A member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, Russ performed with the Gem Dandies, the Russets and the Boise Elks Gleemen. Mia performed with the Madrigal Club in the 1950s and the couple both sang with The Showtimers from the 1960s through the 1980s. Russ and Mia appeared in numerous theatrical productions with Musical Productions Inc, and Boise Music Week.

The Fereday's have three sons and two daughters. Mia lives in Boise and Russ died in Boise in 2013 at the age of 96.
