Collection created by the Oregon Historical Society containing brochures, pamphlets, and other promotional materials produced by states, counties, and municipalities in the northwestern United States and southwestern Canada, including Oregon, Washington State, British Columbia, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, California, and Hawaii. The primary focus is Oregon and Washington State, and most materials date from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Included are many brochures produced under the auspices of the Sunset Homeseekers Bureau.

Promotional brochures advertising business and travel opportunities throughout the Pacific Northwest, including Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and California; many brochures include color and black & white illustrations. The bulk of material describes Oregon and Washington cities, counties, hotels, resorts, and parks, and date from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Many of the most elaborate brochures were produced in collaboration with the Sunset Homeseekers Bureau (also known as the Bureau of Community Publicity), a subsidiary of the Southern Pacific Railroad.

Pamphlets produced in association with the Bureau of Community Publicity and the Sunset Homeseekers Bureau were a gift of William Bittle Wells, 1960 January 13, Library Accession 8480. Additional materials were assembled by the Oregon Historical Society from a variety of sources.
