This collection contains photographs taken in the United States and Europe during Mann's service in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, which provide insight into the life and training of a nurse at that time. The collection also contains a selection of Mann's Army records, including a detailed inventory of clothing and equipment issued to her, as well as documentation of her service, illness, and eventual retirement. Drafts of Mann's undergraduate paper: "Cambarincola Gracilis Sp. Nov., A Branchiobellid Oligochaete Commensal on Western Crayfishes", are included along with her notes and figure drawings.

Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Dorothy Robinson Mann graduated from the University of Oregon Medical School Department of Nursing in June of 1942. She went on to serve in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, where she worked in the 46th General Hospital. She was hospitalized with tuberculosis in late 1944 and retired from the Nurse Corps in 1945. In 1953, Mann graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Lewis & Clark College. She passed away on August 21, 2011.
