Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Glen Adams was born June 19, 1912 in Fairfield, Washington. In 1935, while attending Eastern Washington University, Adams established Ye Galleon Press, a printing press dedicated to making rare or inaccessible books and manuscripts inexpensive and available to the public. He was named an honorary faculty member at Eastern Washington University in 1983, as well as being selected for the Washington State Centennial Hall of Honor and receiving an honorary doctorate in Letters from Gonzaga University in 1990. By 1990, Ye Galleon Press had published over 450 books focused on the history of the Pacific Northwest. Glen Adams died October 17, 2003.

The Glen Adams Papers contain notes, photographs, and business correspondence from Adams's time at Ye Galleon Press. These papers, which date from 1930 through 20013, also consist of personal correspondence and photographs, newspaper clippings, a certificate of honorary professorship from Eastern Washington University, and a dissertation written on contributions made by Adams and his press. This collection documents the life and works of Glen Adams, from his printmaking to his personal life.
