Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Roberto Borrell is a musician, teacher, and dancer. For the last thirty-five years, he has spent his time instructing and performing Afro-Cuban Folkloric Dance and Cuban Popular Dance. During his youth, Borrell learned to dance at the legendary Havana Social Clubs. At 18, he was asked by Conjunto Folklorico Nacional to join their performance group. Borrell has been praised for his playing of the Bata for Tambores (Yoruba religious ceremonies) and for directing orchestras in Cuba and San Francisco.
