Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Austin Ross was a professor at the University of Washington School of Public Health and Community Medicine.

Ross was born on August 12, 1929 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He earned both his Bachelor of Science and his Master of Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley. In 1955, he began his career at the Virginia Mason Medical Center as an administrative resident. He remained at Virginia Mason until 1991, when he retired as the vice president and executive administrator. Ross was also a professor at the University of Washington Master of Health Administration program.

Ross married Annette Wolff Ross on December 28, 1950 and had four children: Carol, Randall, Becky, and Austin.
