Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Lisa Matthewson's linguistic research focuses on cross-linguistic variations in semantics and pragmatics related to Universal Grammar, with a specific focus on indigenous languages of the Pacific Northwest. Matthewson studied at Victoria University of Wellington for both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees. She received her Ph.D. in 1996 from the University of British Columbia, where she is also a Professor and Distinguished University Scholar.
