17 photographs of Native American pictographs, from sites located along the Columbia and Methow Rivers and Lake Chelan. The photographs were probably taken by Squaxin tribe chief Bennett Cooper in 1939, shortly before the areas were flooded as a result of damming.
Photographs of pictographs on rock walls include close up views of groupings of pictographs; views of larger sections of rock walls covered in pictographs; and the rock art in the context of the surrounding natural environment. "Methow" and "Near the mouth of the Columbia" were written on two of the original negative sleeves but the sleeves were removed before acquisition.
