Since the earl 1990s, the Gay and Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest (GLAPN) has collected historical materials documenting LGBTQ communities in Oregon and throughout the Pacific Northwest. Materials collected by the organization have been regularly donated to the Oregon Historical Society.
Items include LGBT community newspapers from the Oregon cities of Portland, Salem, and Eugene; the Washington cities of Seattle, Olympia, Vancouver, and Spokane; Boise, Idaho; Vancouver, British Columbia; as well as from smaller towns in Oregon and Washington. Some national publications are included, though most contain information pertaining to the Pacific Northwest region. Also included are newsletters and promotional publications from various community support organizations.
The materials are arranged by title and size.
The collection is open to the public.
The Oregon Historical Society is the owner of the materials in the Research Library and makes available reproductions for research, publication, and other uses. Written permission must be obtained from the Research Library prior to any use of reproductions. The Society does not necessarily hold copyright to all the materials in the collections. In some cases, permission for use of reproductions may require seeking additional authorization from the copyright holders.
