Joe Heaney (AKA Joe Éinniú; Irish: Seosamh Ó hÉanaí) (1919 - 1984) was an Irish traditional (sean nós) singer from County Galway, Ireland. He spent most of his adult life abroad, living in England, Scotland and New York City, in the course of which he recorded hundreds of songs. A magnificent singer in both Gaelic and English, Heaney sings in sean-nos, the highly ornamented style of traditional Irish song.

1 - Makings of a record never released; made in late 1970s & obtained by Gerald Shannon from Josh Dunson in Chicago.
2 - Side A of cassette contains a children's concert performed by J. Heaney in Philadelphia, May 1978; Side B contains cuts from 3 different records: 1) J. Heaney giving speech: "Why are the British troops here?" from "This is Free Belfast," 2) J. Heaney singing "Cunnla" from "From Erin's Green Shore" (made in England, 1960s), 3) J. Heaney singing "Amhrain Na Paise" from "Seoda Ceol" (made in Ireland, 1960s).
3 - Dub of "Roaratorio" by John Cage, produced by West German Radio, Cologne, 1979, and speech by & interview with John Cage; Archives copy from dub of first U.S. broadcast of "Roaratorio" in San Francisco.
4-6 - Copies of a Joe Heaney performance taped in Dublin, 1980.
7-8 - Second generation dub of "The Travelling People," a radio ballad by Ewan McColl, Peggy Seeger, and Charles Parker, Argo DA 133 (mono); Joe Heaney sings 2 songs, with accompaniment.
9-10 - Copy of cassette labelled "Heaney Concert" (Maxell 90) (1:30:00).
11 - Copy of cassette containing radio spot, labelled "Joe Heaney/Dolby B, 5/5/88 [sic] [1978?]/Listen to This! Radio/Audio Production/Rosemary Tobin 550-0699/(8:27)"
