Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Ellen Sofia Elizabeth Anderson (born Gabrielsson) was born on February 1, 1885 in Bagganas, Tingsryd, Småland, Sweden. She emigrated from Sweden to the U.S. in 1901 with her older brother. She settled in Seattle around 1915 or 1916. She married Charles Seth Anderson (Karl Set when in Sweden) on April 10, 1918. He was born January 8, 1887 in Skarkind, Östergötland, Sweden and emigrated to the U.S. in 1914. They may have met at an I.O.G.T. event. They purchased a home together in Seattle in 1919. Ellen Anderson died in 1966.

This scrapbook was compiled by Ellen S.E. Anderson sometime around 1918. The photos are believed to be a Swedish group of Independent Order of Good Templars (I.O.G.T.) in or near Seattle. The single photograph of an I.O.G.T. picnic in Seattle features Ellen S.E. Anderson and Charles Seth Anderson, her husband.
