Arthur G. Stangland (1908-1990) and Artie Stangland/Artie Appleton (1910-1995) were a pair of married writers who lived in Astoria, Oregon. Arthur Stangland wrote science fiction stories which that were published in various popular magazines. Artie Stangland wrote primarily romantic fiction, much of it with Edith Warner, under her maiden name, Artie Appleton.
The collection consists of manuscripts and some published copies of stories by both authors, as well as some correspondence. Many of the manuscripts have correspondence related to the story attached. Additional correspondence with agents and publishers appears in separate files.
Property rights reside with Special Collections & University Archives, University of Oregon Libraries. Copyright resides with the creators of the documents or their heirs. All requests for permission to publish collection materials must be submitted to Special Collections and University Archives. The reader must also obtain permission of the copyright holder.
