Business and Professional Women/USA was founded in 1919 with the mission to promote equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education and information. Washington State Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs is made up of at least sixteen local BPW clubs as of 2008, with many others having come and gone over the years. The North Central Seattle Club existed from 1955 to 1989. District 11, which included the Yakima and Sunnyside area, merged into another district in 1993. Some active programs at the state level include a Speakers Bureau, Political Action Committee (PAC), the Young Careerist competition (founded in 1964 by BPW National President, Virginia Allen), and an annual conference

Many files appear to have been maintained by Nydia Case, active member of the Puyallup BPW for many years. The Puyallup chapter was active in legislative reform, wartime defense efforts, and local business promotion for women.
