The Lawsons developed a knowledge of the feed business and were very successful. Jack died in 1948 and Manya continued the business with her son until 1965. The business continued until 1972.

Tape-recorded interviewconducted by Jeanette Schrieber on May 7, 1974 and spanning the period 1914-1974.

The interview covers early family history in Russia and the emigration to Canada via Palestine in 1914. The family arrived in Seattle in 1920 and then moved to Kirkland in 1922. Jack and Manya purchased a general store and feed business. They were the only Jewish family in Kirkland and Mrs. Lawson kept a kosher home.
