Content DescriptionReturn to Top

The Life History Anthropology Project Collection is the result of anthropology coursework at Boise State University under the direction of Professor Robert McCarl. The histories cover a wide range of topics, sometimes including family members (usually grandparents), while others include individuals who are interesting for other reasons; for example, the experiences of a housewife who lives openly as a homosexual later in life, or those of an individual raised in a strict, rural Idaho home who, upon reaching adulthood, joined the "hippie" movement in San Francisco and traveled the country playing rock music and living in communes. Researchers may also find the interviews of Boise, Idaho's Bosnian population interesting.

The paper files from the collection include release forms, video logs, and student papers. The audio-visual materials that accompany the projects come in a wide variety of formats, though most are interviews recorded on audio cassettes.

Forms part of the Ethnographic Archive of the Intermountain West.
