Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Dalbert Rychter was born December 27, 1918 in Germany. In 1938, he was arrested by the Nazi regime on Kristallnacht and was imprisoned at Sachsenhausen concentration camp near Berlin. After six weeks, he was released and emigrated to England, then to the United States. He worked as an electrical engineer in Seattle and in 1955 founded Seattle Electric Co. He was president of Cascade Lodge of B'nai B'rith, a board member of Community Services for the Blind, and active in the Jewish Federation. He was also an active member of Herzl-Ner Tamid Conservative Congregation serving as President from 1966-67.

In the 1950s, he began Project Brotherhood, in which Jewish volunteers take the place of Christians in the workplace during Christmas.

This accession is made up entirely of Herzl Conservative Congregation papers collected by Dalbert Rychter. Topics include the Congregation's search for new site documented and beginging planning for new sanctuary.
