Historical NoteReturn to Top

The Oregon Federation of Women's Clubs originated with a meeting of women's clubs in Oregon called by the Portland Woman's Club on October 24, 1899. In 1901, the federation was officially admitted to the General Federation of Women's Clubs. The Oregon Federation of Women's Clubs has raised funds for scholarships and community improvement projects. In 1965, it adopted the motto "Growth Through Service" at its 50th state convention in Gearhart, Oregon.

The Oswego Woman's Club was founded in 1906 by members of the Oswego Free Library Reading Room. The group's members organized, funded, and staffed a public library in Lake Oswego, Oregon, until the City of Lake Oswego took responsibility for the library in 1930. The group also partook in other educational and philanthropic topics. The Oswego Woman's Club disbanded at the end of 2002 due to declining membership. Upon disbanding, the club donated custom wood shelves to the Lake Oswego Public Library.
