Joseph Butwin is a professor of English, as well as an affiliate faculty member of the Stroum Center for Jewish Studies, at the University of Washington. He received a B.A. (1965) from the University of Minnesota, and an A.M. (1966) and Ph.D. (1970) from Harvard University. Butwin's research interests include Jewish literature, in particular the translation of Yiddish writers, as well as 19th century English literature.
