Historical NoteReturn to Top
The Pacific Northwest River Basins Commission was established by the Water Resources Planning Act in 1966. In April of 1967, it assumed the duties of the Columbia Basin Inter-Agency committee which dealt with all aspects of river basin use. The Commission oversaw the cooperative planning and coordination of water resources management by federal and state agencies in the Pacific Northwest, principally Columbia Basin, Willamette Basin, and Puget Sound region. It represented the Columbia North Pacific Technical Staff, 1966-1971; and Willamette Basin Task Force. The Commission was disbanded in 1981.
