Historical NoteReturn to Top

Plans for a new public golf course in Walla Walla began in 1940, but they were postponed by the onset of World War II. On March 3, 1945, the Veteran's Memorial Park Association was formed. A bond was approved on November 4, 1945, and Francais James, a noted golf course designer, was hired to draw up plans for the 18-hole facility. The first nine holes were completed and the course was dedicated on September 11, 1948.
