Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Liang Tsai-Ping (1910 or 1911-2000) was a musician, composer, author, and teacher from China. He was known as a master of the guzheng, which is a traditional Chinese zither. As an adult, Liang worked at the Ministry of Commerce; nevertheless, he was still able to have an influential musical career. In 1938, he published a teaching manual for guzheng. During his lifetime, he composed more than forty pieces for the guzheng and performed guzheng and guqin music around the world. He has been credited as a major figure in the guzheng revival of the 20th century.
