Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Civil engineer, state legislator, and civic leader of Seattle, Washington.
William Day Shannon was born in 1881. Shannon was an engineer who supervised the construction of the Baker River dam and hydro power plant near Concrete, Washington and the Shuffleton steam plant in Renton. He worked for Puget Sound Power and Light Company. Shannon served as Washington state senator from 1947-1963. He was a member of the Hoover Commission, 1954-1955; district manager, U.S. War Production Board, 1941-1943; and officer in professional and civic organizations. Shannon died in 1976.
